The grass in the park had withered completely, and the trees appeared sparse. The walls were cracked and covered in graffiti. An abandoned three-story building stood to the west of the park, while the mosque in the southeast corner remained in use. This desolate park was a necessary passage for locals visiting the mosque. Moreover, whenever the mosque was overcrowded, people frequently utilized this open space for various ceremonies and religious activities. Due to the lack of proper sidewalks, dilapidated seating, and uneven ground, many elderly people and children had to pray on the rough terrain. Narrow alleys and open drainage ditches also caused the park and pathways to be flooded with sewage during heavy rains, making passage difficult and unhygienic.

Thus, the project’s goals were divided into two phases. The first phase concerns the park itself, while the second phase revolves around the community and social aspects surrounding the park. In the first phase, the objective is to transform the entire area, improving its accessibility, usability, functionality, and aesthetics. The second phase focuses more on enhancing community participation and ensuring proper maintenance and upkeep for the foreseeable future.

The renovation work began with the demolition of the existing north wall. Subsequently, the northern road was integrated into the park and transformed into an elevated walkway. People can directly access this walkway from all adjacent alleys, making entry into the park from this side much easier. A ramp for wheelchair users was added at the southwest entrance. Additionally, rainwater collection trenches were dug around the park and covered with RCC slabs to form sidewalks. These trenches connect to an underground reservoir to store the collected rainwater and filter it for future use. A temporary sewage treatment facility was also installed on the elevated walkway, directing wastewater into the municipal drainage pipe. This temporary sewage treatment facility, combined with the underground rainwater collection trenches, became an effective measure to solve the waterlogging problem in the Rasulbagh area.

The previously abandoned building was thoroughly renovated and repurposed into a multifunctional space. The refurbished building houses a gym, a community hall, and other facilities. This arrangement not only provides employment opportunities for the community but also generates funding for the park's maintenance. The mosque also underwent renovation, though mainly cosmetic on the exterior. Furthermore, a space for ablution during Ramadan was added next to the mosque to facilitate Wudu (Islamic ritual washing) for Muslims. Various decorative offerings were also placed around the park.

The park now features proper open sports fields, a children's playground, pavilions, a 500-foot (approximately 152.4 meters) long walkway, a public square for relaxation, a library, a gymnasium, a community hall, and public restrooms. The new design strongly emphasizes maintaining a healthy and clean environment. Therefore, trash/recycling bins are placed within the park to encourage people to keep the environment tidy. By entrusting responsibility to those who value it most, creating job opportunities, and strengthening the already close ties among community members, this transformation has paved the way for a brighter future for the park and its local environment. The park has become a truly popular and family-friendly space capable of serving multiple diverse roles, greatly benefiting the community.
