In a seemingly boundless and idyllic flat countryside, a small patch of dense forest comes into view. This ancient grove covers an area of 4500 square meters and has been protected and cultivated in a rural environment. In this unique environment, the design team designed a cake shop, which is the second building on the site by the same owner. Previously, a locally produced and sold restaurant had been completed in 2015.

The gently sloping terrain and naturally scattered trees, mottled sunlight, and rustling leaves provide visitors with a comfortable and dreamy background. The design of the restaurant aims to create a feeling of being submerged by the forest, to help visitors escape from daily life and experience the forest from within. Tourists can enjoy the tree roots sprouting from their feet and the lush leaves above their heads. On the other hand, in this project, the design team created a space that offers seasonal cheesecake, striving to create a building that can capture seasonal changes. The design team placed the building in a forest and raised it from the ground, capturing an unusual perspective that allows customers to appreciate the forest from the inside, creating a space that seems to float in the forest.

The building attempts to eliminate the boundary between the interior and exterior. In order to eliminate the boundary between the interior and exterior, elements such as structural frames, walls, and floors are extended or moved to avoid defining space. Although space is composed of lines (columns, beams), faces (walls, slabs), and volumes (objects surrounded by surfaces), it is crucial for each component to exist independently as a pure material. Therefore, the designer carefully considered the connection of walls, floors, and structural frames to ensure the uniqueness of each material.

In addition, the design team placed a 45 degree rotating space, creating a space with blurred direction. People who are immersed in it find it difficult to perceive their relative positions and unknowingly lose their direction. This sense of loss and unfamiliarity excludes external information, immersing individuals in space as if surrounded by a forest.

The design team made this project appear complex and organic through a simple 45 degree rotation operation. On the one hand, this approach makes it stand out, showcasing complex spatial characteristics. On the other hand, when people are immersed in it, they feel seamlessly integrated with the forest, almost disappearing into nature.
