复杂滨水环境的精妙解构与整合：项目面临的首要挑战是场地内高耸的防洪堤对城市与水岸的物理和视觉阻隔。设计师以高超的空间智慧，通过一个平缓的三维坡道系统，巧妙地将防洪堤转化为兼具观景长廊、人行步道和车行通道的复合界面。这一举措不仅成功消除了视觉屏障，实现了城市空间向水岸的无缝连接，同时整合了滨水长廊的公共功能，体现了在严苛的防洪要求下，对城市公共性与可达性进行最大化释放的建筑城市主义思想。

参数化技术与成本效益的完美平衡：音乐厅的设计是技术创新与美学表达的典范。其参数化设计的“钻石”形立面，通过标准化、可复制的铝板模块实现复杂的几何造型，极大地优化了施工精度和成本控制。夜晚灯光系统与穿孔板的结合，营造出钻石切割般的璀璨光影效果，赋予建筑强烈的符号特征和场所精神。这种在保证视觉冲击力的同时，兼顾制造效率与运营成本的整体性解决方案，是当代大型公共建筑设计中追求技术与经济可行性的高水平体现。

The Shanghai Baoshan Long Beach Winder Tower Complex is strategically located at the mouth of the Yangtze River, adjacent to the Asia's largest and the world's fourth largest cruise terminal—the Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal, boasting an exceptional geographical position.
上海宝山长滩风塔综合体坐落于长江入海口，毗邻亚洲规模最大、全球第四大的母港 —— 吴淞口国际邮轮港，地理位置得天独厚。

The DLR Group distinguished itself in an international design competition with a vision to transform an industrial port area into a new waterfront landmark. Covering an area of 2 million square feet (approximately 185,800 square meters), the complex integrates an 180-meter-high observation tower, a 120-meter-high super A-grade office building, an 80-meter-high five-star hotel with 300 rooms, a concert hall accommodating 1027 people, a tunnel operation center, and retail commercial spaces.

The design incorporates cultural imagery from the classic novel *Journey to the West*. Inspired by Sun Wukong's legendary weapon, the "Ruyi Jingu Bang" (Staff that Pacifies the Seas), and the "Dragon Palace of the East Sea," the design team transformed a site previously dominated by utilitarian functions into a fantastical tourist destination. Through spatial reconstruction, ecological restoration, functional stacking, and cultural narration, the project created a 1.75-kilometer-long waterfront promenade, successfully addressing numerous complex challenges: removing the flood control dike as a visual barrier, integrating municipal infrastructure into the site, and resolving riverfront traffic flow issues.

Master Plan

The core of the project lies in the innovative transformation of a 135-meter-high municipal tunnel ventilation shaft. The design relocates the chimney's function within the development area and reshapes it into a 180-meter-tall multifunctional landmark building. Inspired by the mythical "Staff that Pacifies the Seas," this tower integrates infrastructure with public attractions, housing residences, retail, exhibition spaces, high-altitude climbing and bungee jumping activities, skywalks, swings, and a rooftop restaurant. This formerly single-function building has now become a popular destination favored by citizens and a visual landmark along the riverbank.

The 1027-seat concert hall achieves another breakthrough with its parametrically designed "diamond" facade. This facade system is composed of 59 triangular modules, each further subdivided into 16 to 64 aluminum panels, creating an angular, intersecting faceted geometric form while maintaining a standardized manufacturing process. At night, the lighting design simulates the refractive effect of a cut diamond, where perforated panels and embedded lights interact to cast shimmering, ripple-like reflections on the water. This design perfectly blends architectural poetry with practical efficiency, achieving visual brilliance while reducing costs and construction time. These two innovations together embody a holistic approach that considers function, aesthetics, technology, and long-term operation, simultaneously enhancing spatial and commercial value.

Enlarged Standard Floor Plan—Office Tower

To address the challenge posed by a five-meter-high flood control wall obstructing river views, the team proposed a three-dimensional solution. By connecting a gently rising slope to the flood dike, a wide viewing promenade was created, while vehicle access was provided beneath the slope and pedestrian paths were laid atop it. This design not only improved traffic efficiency but also tightly linked the city with the river.
面对高达五米的防洪墙遮挡河景这一挑战，团队提出了一个三维解决方案。通过一个平缓抬升的坡面与防洪堤相接，既打造出一条宽阔的观景长廊，又在坡下设置车行通道、坡上铺设人行步道。这一设计不仅提升了交通效率，还将城市与河流紧密相连。

The Shanghai Baoshan Long Beach Winder Tower Complex demonstrates how bold imagination and cultural narrative can transform urban infrastructure into urban landmarks. Its iconic presence not only extends pedestrian reach and activates green open spaces but also provides a stage for various cultural activities. As the central focus of the entire riverside area, it redefines the urban image of the Yangtze River estuary, becoming a new symbol of Shanghai's ever-evolving waterfront landscape.
