The Humanities Building is located at the main entrance of the central campus of the Industrial University of Santander, being a key element of the university's master plan. Based on a structure of stacked lines of architectural concrete, its design not only shapes an iconic gateway image but also provides space for academic expansion.

The ground floor building follows the natural slope of the terrain, adopting a double plinth design to create two entrance levels at different heights. The "double ground floor" space extends the public areas, being open, dynamic, and highly community-friendly. The lower floor creates an artificial topography with rolling dunes housing the observatory visitor center; while the higher floor forms balconies and leisure gathering areas through staggered floor slabs. The two levels are connected by stairs with cantilevered platforms, which optimize crowd flow and stimulate the dynamic vitality of the architectural space.

The main tower runs north-south and is composed of staggered ochre concrete vertical floor slabs, which filter direct sunlight while offering panoramic views of the surrounding open landscape. This passive climate control strategy is supplemented by the design of eaves and surrounding walkways, both of which expand learning spaces and provide shading. In some areas, the floor slabs feature vertical folds to enhance their practicality in a tropical environment.

In addition to two traditional vertical circulation routes, the building incorporates recreational paths and open stairs to promote pedestrian flow and strengthen visual connections with the surrounding landscape. In terms of functional layout, the building adopts a progressive zoning: interactive spaces such as the cafeteria and student club areas are set on the ground floor; classrooms and seminar rooms are distributed on the middle floors; and faculty offices and recreational/wellness spaces are arranged on the top floor.

Structurally, the building is supported by two rigid core tubes at either end, a design that frees up the central space, allowing for a more flexible floor plan that is easier to adapt in the future. The main body of the building is cast in ochre concrete, a tone that echoes the traditional rammed earth walls of the region, while the core tubes and columns are finished in conventional gray concrete, creating a strong contrast.
