选址的象征意义与俯瞰的叙事性：项目选址于韩东大学内一处高耸的中心山丘之上，这一决策不仅是地理上的选择，更是深思熟虑的象征性布局。建筑师以“绵羊”喻指大学整体轮廓，将祷告室置于焦点，使其在校园中具有极高的可见性。更精妙的是，设计意图并非侧重于人眼平视的体验，而是从高处俯瞰时能清晰勾勒出十字架的轮廓，这种由上而下的叙事方式，赋予了建筑超越个体体验的宏大精神指向，体现了设计对场地精神和神学主题的深刻理解。
形式的纯粹性与意蕴的凸显：在极为有限的预算约束下，项目果断摒弃了冗余的装饰性处理，转而将设计语言提纯至建筑形态本身。这种“以少胜多”的策略，使得建筑的每一个元素都承载着明确的象征意义。例如，从山脚延伸至室内的冥想步道，清晰界定了祷告的起始与过程。这种对核心功能的聚焦和对象征手法的纯粹运用，极大地提升了建筑作为祷告室的精神浓度和表达力度。
光影与结构的对话：构建十字架的体验：祷告室内部空间的处理是设计的精髓所在。通过大胆采用无柱悬挑结构，成功营造出十字架意象所蕴含的厚重感和神圣性。入口的刻意收窄，引导个体虔诚进入。最核心的是光线的运用：水平方向上，室内布局鼓励使用者与自然环境对话；垂直方向上，十字架上方引入的天窗，使光线如“天之声音”般倾泻而下，形成了与天堂的直接连接。这种光与影、横向与纵向的交织，生动地诠释了十字架的宗教内涵。
Despite several alternative locations for building a small chapel on campus, this spot was unequivocally selected as the site for the Handong University Prayer Room, Heaven's Voice, a charitable project initiated by an elder of a local church.
尽管校园内有多个可供建造小教堂的备选地点，但韩东大学祷告室“Heaven's Voice”的选址却毫无争议地敲定了此处，该项目是一位当地教会长老发起的慈善工程。

For the architect, a Christian, the overall outline of Handong University resembles a sheep, with a small hill at the center of the campus being particularly prominent. This location offers an excellent vantage point, visible from surrounding campus buildings, and the design intended to outline the shape of a cross from an overhead perspective, rather than from the eye-level view.
在身为基督徒的建筑师眼中，韩东大学的整体轮廓宛如一只绵羊，而校园中心的一座小山丘尤为引人注目。此地位置极佳，从周边校园建筑均可望见，其设计初衷是从俯瞰视角勾勒出十字架的轮廓，而非从平视的人眼视角呈现。

Due to an extremely tight budget, it was decided from the outset to forgo all decorative treatments and focus instead on conveying profound meaning through the architectural form. The design team did not attempt to fit all functions into this project but concentrated on highlighting its core purpose as a prayer room. Thus, a meditative path starting from the foot of the hill came into being, symbolizing the starting point of prayer—the base of the hill signifies the beginning of supplication—and the ramp surrounding the building ensures this meditative path flows smoothly between indoor and outdoor spaces.
由于预算极为紧张，项目伊始便决定舍弃一切装饰性处理，转而专注于通过建筑形态传递深层意蕴的设计。设计团队并未试图将所有功能都放进这个项目，而是着力凸显其作为祷告室的核心用途。由此，一条从山脚起始的冥想步道应运而生，象征着祷告的起点 —— 山脚即成为祈祷的开端，而环绕建筑设计的坡道则确保了这条冥想路径能够流畅贯通室内外空间。

The entrance width of the prayer room is similar to that of a regular corridor, perhaps slightly narrow for a main entrance, but this was intentionally designed to guide people in one by one to maintain the sacred atmosphere of the space. In this small chapel, the design eschewed columns, instead employing a cantilevered structure to symbolize the profound meaning carried by the cross in Christianity. When seated inside, the design encourages a horizontal dialogue with the surrounding natural environment; meanwhile, the skylight above the cross introduces natural light pouring down, symbolizing the vertical connection with heaven.
祷告室的入口宽度与普通走廊相仿，作为主入口而言或许略显狭窄，但这一设计实为刻意为之，旨在引导人们逐一进入，以维系空间的圣洁氛围。在这座小型礼拜堂内，设计摒弃了立柱，转而采用悬挑结构，以此象征基督教中十字架所承载的厚重意涵。当人们落座其中，设计鼓励人与周遭自然环境展开横向对话；而十字架上方的天窗则引入自然光倾泻而下，象征着与天国的纵向联结。

From the moment one enters the building, the light pouring in through the skylight allows one to truly feel the presence of the cross, while the shadows gathered inside quietly record the passage of time.
自踏入建筑的那一刻起，经由天窗倾泻而入的光线便让人真切感受到十字架的存在，而室内汇聚的光影则悄然记录着时光的流转。
