In the northernmost part of the Wuliang Mountains in Yunnan, Phoenix Mountain plays among the clouds at an altitude of 2380 meters, lying still like a giant bird with its wings folded in Bixi Township, Nanjian, Dali. This place is not only a geological epic where the Hengduan Mountains collide with the Ailao Mountains, but also one of China's famous migratory bird corridors. Every September, tens of thousands of migratory birds circle down along this life migration route that has lasted for millions of years, turning the myth of "Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix" into reality.

Awakening the Site: From Ruins to Inspiration
Deep within the 1,300-mu tea tourism secret realm of Phoenix Mountain, the site is hidden in a forgotten valley west of the guesthouse. The collapsed earthen walls and moss-covered stone bases here were once a shared home for mountain residents and wild animals, and the surrounding rainforest welcomes flocks of migratory birds year after year. One evening at dusk, a single white pheasant feather drifted down onto the ruins — the silver-edged, black-patterned plumage rested quietly on the meadow, resembling a design sketch handed over by nature. This chance encounter gave birth to the "Phoenix Feather Tea Pavilion": to create an architecture that floats lightly in the forest like a feather, while serving as a medium for birdwatchers to converse with the mountain forest.

The Translation of Feathers: The designer used the language of "light touch on the earth," employing galvanized steel bars instead of ink to sketch lines among ancient trees and valleys. The 14mm slender galvanized steel bars simulate the long legs of the white pheasant, growing upwards from the ground, weaving a hyperboloid drooping arc in the air to capture the elegant curve of a feather. The tea couch and bar on the south side form the gravity anchor points, while the east side is lightly supported by only a few steel bars, making the building resemble a silver feather about to fall, creating an overall sense of "suspension."

The Shifting Plumage: The surface of the galvanized steel bars is coated with silver metallic paint, becoming a canvas for recording the light of the sky. It shows a cool blue tone in the mist, is tinged with romantic purple clouds at sunset, and exudes warmth in the dark night when permeated by warm yellow light, emerging from the dark green jungle.

Humble Restraint: The building volume humbly stops at the boundary of the ancient trees, avoiding intrusion into the original environment. The long table at the end faces the dense forest to the west, framing a dynamic natural scroll. The steel bar grid of the arc roof cuts the sky above into unique strip-like views, enhancing the ritualistic sense of viewing.

Beyond Function: A Sustainable Spectacle
The completed Phoenix Feather Tea Pavilion rests gracefully in the woods like a fallen feather, perfectly blending the sense of gravity with poetic suspension. It transcends its original function as a resting place, ascending to become a spiritual venue for deep interaction between humans and nature in the natural "cloud and fog theater" of Phoenix Mountain.

Seeing and Being Seen: Inside the translucent tea pavilion, birdwatchers quietly observe the forest sea and listen to the birdsong; meanwhile, the tea pavilion itself and all the surrounding things (forest, birds, mist, light, and shadow) also become participants in "watching," forming a subtle and continuous poetic dialogue with the people in the pavilion.
