TAM - Guillermo Elgart

Human beings need to maintain reverence for nature. Nature existed before we arrived. Go and feel the scent of the forest, listen to the chirping of birds, experience the atmosphere of being in the woods, sit under the shade of trees, and listen to the rustling of leaves when the wind blows.

This open space already exists. We have not found 'nothingness'. From a physical perspective, this vast expanse is a real existence, a measurable and observable space. This open space is shaped by the natural undulations of the land and the trees that define its boundaries.

Firstly, we laid a layer of wavy concrete shell to blend in with the terrain and covered it with vegetation. Most of the functional areas are located under this structure. This design technique makes the building volume seem to disappear, avoiding any impact on existing open areas or urban spaces.

Subsequently, in order to improve the overall layout and make it appear suspended in an open space, we placed a box shaped structure with reflective effects, which can resonate with the natural environment and produce multiple visual effects.

The arrangement of the green cover layer (which can be understood as the "green shell" or similar green structure mentioned earlier) and the reflective box body frames this open area and maintains spatial coherence from the street to the green core area. They create a livable space, forming a dynamic spatial pathway that guides people to the central entrance at the top of the covering layer.

Underneath the concrete cover, an open space has been created with a central courtyard at its core, serving as the heart of the residence and cleverly avoiding the view of the street. Outside the courtyard, a flowing wooden mass is strategically placed beneath the cover layer, defining and organizing all functional areas through its relationship with the edges. It cleverly separates public areas from private areas while also serving the service space.

This suspended box is almost like a second residence, a minimalist guest room equipped with a living dining area, bedroom, bathroom, and a small kitchen. Being immersed in it, people can feel a different perspective, as if they are between the tree crowns.

To quote Jorge Oteiza, "The work actively 'empties' space through the fusion of simple formal units. Space, whether occupied or not, is a place. But an unoccupied place is not empty. Empty is obtained through creation, stemming from the absence of form. Empty is created, not a priori existence

Emptiness does not mean absence, but rather an organizational force that gives meaning to spatial layout. These elements carve out hollow spaces in the natural environment, actively "emptying" the space through interdependent volume fusion.
