The project is located in Tama, at the border of Kanagawa and Tokyo, with the building situated on the southern slope of a hill and surrounded by undulating terrain. Contrary to the turbulent terrain, the solemn and tidy Buddhist cemetery on the northern slope presents a peaceful atmosphere, crossing the mountain ridge to the southern slope where the residential area is located and blending into the quiet street space. The southeast sides of the base are adjacent to roads, conforming to the rise and fall of the terrain. Even in high-density residential areas, this corner of the land is still illuminated and gives a sense of clarity.

Architects divide the building into two parts based on the terrain: an above ground level and a partially semi underground level; The semi basement level consists of a washroom, two bedrooms, and a garage. The washroom and bedroom are placed in a completely enclosed concrete box, while the adjacent garage is completely open to the outside. The box is placed in the center of the entire range of the base and adjacent streets, and the upper floor is erected to match the terrain. The first floor space is enclosed by four concrete walls standing alone, and the shuttle shaped cross-section makes the walls look like several giant stones resting on a platform when viewed from the street. The walls give a sense of mystery to the interior space while also creating continuity in the surrounding space, blurring the boundaries between the interior of the site and the street.

From the outside, the building occupies the entire corner of the street, maintaining an unknown interior while creating a bright and spacious feeling. Entering the enclosed space on the first floor from the highest point in the northeast corner of the base, passing through the entrance between the walls, feels like stepping on a suspended platform that completely loses its reference to the external terrain. The four giant stones surrounding the platform fragment the external environment and cut off the line of sight from the outside. The daily streets are obscured by the giant stones and become abstract geometric landscapes.

The flat roof of the wooden structure is simply placed above the north wall to form an indoor space and terrace like area. The living space and kitchen are set up in an area that sinks 40 centimeters relative to the platform elevation. The ground is made of dyed black wood to weaken people's perception of this depth. From the outside, it looks like a sunken altar, where daily life unfolds in this relatively private area. The staircase in the southwest corner of the sunken area leads to a semi underground space where there is no perception of the street environment. In the bedroom, users are completely protected like hibernating, only perceiving the arrival of morning and the starry night sky through the skylight.

Looking out from the living space, there is a bright abstract world. The two skylights on the platform and the giant stone like walls also become special objects. One skylight looks down like a street extending into the garage space below the platform, while the other connects the most private spaces in the entire house and provides them with sunlight and moonlight.
