Bad and Park Tiefenbrunnen were designed in 1954 by garden architect Hans Nussbaumer. Nussbaumer was partner of the renowned landscaping firm Mertens, which was founded in the late 19th century and is integral to the swiss garden history. The grounds lie in part on the landfill completed for the national exhibition of 1939 and it is nowadays used in summer as a swimming recreation area and in winter as a park. It is listed in the municipal inventory of gardens and parks worthy of protection in the city of Zurich. Curved, stone-paved pathways, generous lawns and scattered trees characterize the original design, which is defined in german as „Wohngartenstil“. Although the park has been largely protected, not very sensitive adaptations to use and maintenance needs are increasingly endangering the specific atmosphere of the grounds.

The restoration of Bad and Park Tiefenbrunnen includes smaller and medium size measures. Buildings in a bad state of repair have been renovated, changes to the building substance have been corrected historically, and where necessary certain elements have been adapted to today’s uses. The restoration also includes replacing and adding trees. The special area for small children and the paddling pool has been largely improved to increase its attractiveness.
