From the architect. The office of Tho. A Studio is a renovation project for a former shrimp farming facility built in 2015. After investigating the current situation, the design team found that the foundation and corrugated steel roof of the building are still structurally stable and do not need to be demolished. So they chose to preserve the original structure and "graft" a new building inside it to create a multifunctional workspace.

Trees have been introduced into the building, providing support for their growth by expanding the skylight area and fully opening the roof at critical locations. The project is surrounded by green plants, resembling an oasis hidden in an old garage, forming a transitional space that can be used for parking, sports, events, dining, and other purposes.

By creating gaps between the two roof systems, natural air circulation is achieved, effectively reducing the temperature inside the building, especially during the scorching noon heat. This buffer space is not only formed in the planar layout, but also exists in the cross-sectional design, allowing employees to visually interact with the surrounding green plants. Sunlight shines through the openings of the corrugated roof and is softened by the metal plates used as diffusers, reducing the glaring glare in tropical areas.

In this' oasis', most of the materials used are low-cost and can be seen everywhere in the construction market. However, the design team emphasizes craftsmanship to create novel and unexpected decorative effects. The damaged bricks are polished using a process similar to terrazzo, adding a unique texture to the ground. Skilled workers carefully crafted a hundred leaf shaped plaster wall, creating poetic light and shadow effects. Customized detail designs - door handles, embedded cabinets, furniture, etc. - are tailored to the characteristics of each creative workspace.

A brand new building has emerged within the shell of an old building. It not only meets the functional needs of an office, but also goes beyond this category, becoming a green and well lit oasis where people can fully immerse themselves in creative labor.
