A deep analysis of the design brief and client requirements, coupled with an understanding of Qatar's climate and cultural heritage, formed the basis of the design. The external facade of the stands is a polished golden vessel that shimmers in the sunlight. The outer wall features triangular openings that visually reinforce the diagonal structure of the bowl-shaped structure and form a perforated screen that provides shade for the internal concourses and filters dappled light. High-performance facades and innovative roof design reduce the stadium's energy consumption. The use of external cooling technology maximizes comfort within the open-air stadium. The stadium has achieved a five-star rating from the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS).

The primary goal of the stadium design was to create an immersive atmosphere for players and spectators, so the relationship between the pitch and the seating tiers was the starting point for the design. Entering the stadium through the grand concourse provides a ceremonial welcome as visitors arrive. During matches and events, the stadium's seating tiers form an enclosed 'vessel' brimming with life. As the largest stadium in the region, it can host some of the most spectacular international events.
体育场设计的首要目标是为球员和观众营造身临其境的氛围，因此球场及其与观众席之间的关系是设计的出发点。通过宽阔的主席台进入体育场，观众一进门就会受到隆重的欢迎。在比赛和活动期间，体育场的观众席就像一个封闭的“容器”，焕发出勃勃生机。作为该地区最大的体育场，它可以举办一些最壮观的国际赛事。

The 307-meter diameter 'spoke-and-hub' cable net roof is one of the world's largest tensile cable net roofs for a stadium, providing a comfortable environment while unifying the entire stadium under a single enclosure. Its outer compression ring is connected to a central tension ring via a complex cable system. This approach enables a vast roof span without the need for supporting columns.
