The Huaqiao Youth City Park is located in the Huaqiao area of Kunshan, Suzhou. Completed and opened in March 2024, it covers an area of approximately 5,580 square meters and extends in a strip along the south side of Lvdadao. Inspired by the imagery of Kunqu Opera's flowing sleeves, the project combines traditional Chinese culture with modern skateboarding to create a distinctive sports park. The park's renovation has further enhanced the spatial quality and user experience of the site, making it an important cultural and sports activity center for the surrounding community.

Design Concept and Cultural Narrative
The core design concept of the project originates from the graceful and fluid imagery of Kunqu Opera's sleeves. Through spatial shaping and material application, this concept, rich in Eastern rhythm, is translated into a landscape experience within the modern urban context. The abstract form of the sleeves is cleverly integrated into the park's topography, forming a continuous and fluid movement space and establishing organic connections between different functional zones. This design strategy not only endows the site with a unique cultural image but also enhances spatial readability and interactivity.

To emphasize the lightness of the sleeves while meeting the stringent requirements for surface continuity in skateboarding, the park utilizes Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) to create a sculptural "white ribbon" skate area. This innovative material choice not only provides excellent structural performance and durability but also visually reinforces the sense of flow, allowing the movement experience to echo the site's imagery. Furthermore, the project thoroughly considers the functionality and adaptability of the sports areas. In addition to professional sports facilities, the park features diverse recreational amenities, including seating of various scales, shaded areas, and open activity zones, to encourage interaction and communication among residents. Meanwhile, the spatial design prioritizes accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring that users of different physical capabilities can find suitable activities here.

By optimizing vegetation configuration, the park maximizes green coverage within its limited site area to improve air quality, regulate the microclimate, and enhance ecological resilience. In plant selection, the design team combined local climatic and soil conditions, employing diverse native tree and shrub species to boost biodiversity while reducing maintenance costs.
