城市基础设施的积极再造：该项目成功地将苏拉特城市中心高架桥下方被长期忽视的“夹缝空间”转变为一个高品质、面向所有人的公共运动与休憩场所。这不仅是对闲置土地的物理改造，更是对城市空间公平性的深刻回应。它挑战了“基础设施下方空间”的固有负面印象，将其从城市边缘地带提升为社区活力的核心引擎，展现了建筑师在应对城市密度和资源稀缺性方面的创新潜力。

高架下环境的精准调适与围合：设计精妙地平衡了高架桥的喧嚣环境与内部空间的舒适性。通过设计一条流动的碎石步行轴线进行导向，并在其上植入微水泥运动场地，确保了功能性和耐用性。更关键的是，利用轻质铝网和聚碳酸酯外壳构建的围合系统，在有效隔离噪音和提供安全感的同时，保持了视觉上的通透性和空气的流通性，巧妙地将交通噪音转化为背景声，提升了场地的宜居品质。

普惠性的社区激活：该项目的精髓在于其对社会包容性的承诺。通过设定低廉的入场费用和便捷的使用机制，它确保了不同社会阶层、年龄群体的居民都能平等地享有高品质的城市公共设施。这种“人性化的城市主义”实践，通过激活基础设施的负面空间，有效地弥合了社区公共空间的缺口，为印度城市在高密度背景下实现社区凝聚和健康生活提供了一个可持续且可复制的范例。

In the heart of Surat, a city renowned for its layered urban fabric and entrepreneurial spirit, an underutilized space beneath an elevated road has been redefined—transforming from a remnant of infrastructure into a vibrant public realm, a shared space for movement and recreation accessible to all.
在苏拉特这座以多层次的城市肌理与创业精神闻名的城市中心，一处位于高架桥下的闲置空间被重新定义——不再是基础设施的遗留之地，而成为充满活力的公共场所，一个面向所有人的共享运动与休憩空间。

Situated at one of the city's busiest traffic junctions, surrounded by schools, residences, malls, and markets, this open area beneath the flyover had long been underutilized. Commissioned by the Surat Municipal Corporation, the design team converted this sliver of space into accessible sports facilities for the public, turning "urban leftover" into an engine for community life.

The core philosophy emphasizes urban equity—a belief that beauty, dignity, and accessibility should not be privileges reserved for a select few. By activating the space beneath infrastructure, the project addresses a deeper public question: why should beautiful and vibrant urban spaces only be enjoyed by the elite?

The design unfolds along a fluid pedestrian axis, paved with gravel that serves both as a guide and a non-slip surface. Along this soft boundary, a series of enclosed micro-cement sports courts gradually emerge, providing durable and high-performance surfaces. The entire area is enclosed by a lightweight aluminum mesh and polycarbonate shell, creating a sense of security, enclosure, and acoustic buffering amidst the bustling traffic, while maintaining visual transparency and environmental permeability.

设计以一条流动的步行轴线展开，铺设的碎石地面既起到导向作用，又具备防滑性能。沿着这条柔和边界的路径，一系列封闭式的微水泥运动场地逐渐展开，提供耐用且高性能的运动表面。场地整体由轻质的铝网与聚碳酸酯外壳包裹，在喧嚣的车流之间创造了安全感、围合感与声学缓冲，同时保持视觉的通透与环境的可呼吸性。

This intervention is not merely about sports facilities; it acts as a catalyst for community cohesion. It fills a gap in public space within a high-density neighborhood and sets an example for the reuse of under-flyover spaces in Indian cities. It redefines infrastructure—transforming it from an obstruction into an opportunity.

Crucially, the project emphasizes accessibility and affordability in its design. Low entry fees, no mandatory membership system, and open usage hours make it a truly shared space where children, youth, working-class individuals, and the elderly can all find their place.

In an urban context increasingly characterized by privatization and enclosure, the public sports ground under the Surat flyover serves as a reminder that every corner of the city has the potential to be transformed into a place embodying beauty, vitality, and belonging.
