城市公共性与场所精神的构建:项目成功地模糊了室内外边界,通过可漫步的景观屋顶和环绕的绿色环境,将建筑打造成一个开放的城市节点,而非封闭的品牌堡垒。这种“亲近自然的权力”的设计策略,确保了无论是否购票,公众都能参与到建筑的体验中,极大地提升了建筑的社会性和包容性。它将瑞典的自然风情引入哥德堡市中心,创造了一个既服务于品牌展示,又回馈于城市公共生活的高品质场所,体现了当代地标建筑应有的责任感和场所营造能力。

“World of Volvo” is a unique experience center jointly created by the renowned Swedish car brand Volvo Cars and the Volvo Group, with a design centered around Scandinavian values, including freedom of movement, closeness to nature, and openness and inclusivity.

The 22,000 square meter building features a primary timber structure built from glulam (glued laminated timber) and CLT (cross-laminated timber), forming three striking, tree trunk-like columns that fan out to support the entire roof weight, creating a warm, inviting space reminiscent of a forest canopy for visitors.

Located in the heart of Gothenburg’s event district, the venue boasts spacious and versatile areas capable of hosting cultural events, lectures, and conferences for up to 1,100 attendees. The 4,500 square meter exhibition space comprehensively showcases Volvo's history, current innovations, and future vision, featuring iconic vehicle displays, immersive storytelling, and interactive exhibits, all meticulously crafted around Volvo's human-centric and forward-thinking philosophy.

The power of closeness to nature—this grand circular building encourages visitors to explore freely both inside and out, offering an exclusive journey whether or not they hold a ticket for the internal exhibition. Surrounded by vibrant landscaping that extends to a walkable roof, the building integrates with the local landscape in terms of form, material, and culture, bringing the authentic spirit of Swedish nature into central Gothenburg.

The renowned catering operator Götaplatsgruppen has curated a culinary experience in the Ceno Brasserie, accessible to all visitors, and the exclusive Ceno On Top space for conference guests and large groups, aligning with Volvo’s pursuit of excellence. Both restaurants highlight seasonal local ingredients, headed by award-winning Chef Stefan Karlsson, presenting diners with the freshest regional flavors.
