From the architect. The Porto Alegre San Casa Relief Home is an important institution that manages a complex consisting of multiple hospital buildings, with its layout forming an internal street called "Rua da Sa ú de". Due to their established structure, there was no continuous connection between these buildings before. Therefore, the client hopes to have a connecting roof that harmoniously spans across various buildings and defines a new iconic exterior space.

The roof is called "Rua da Sa ú de" and spans the courtyard of the comprehensive hospital, consisting of 1647 glass panels. This slender free-form structure consists of triangular steel grids and glass cover plates, connecting three indoor areas to the main entrance of the hospital complex building. The roof not only provides shelter, but also creates a vibrant green outdoor area, creating a warm atmosphere for hospital users' leisure and social activities. Its free-form design blends harmoniously with the surrounding environment.
屋顶被称为“Rua da Saúde”，横跨综合医院的庭院，由 1647 块玻璃板组成。这种细长的自由形式结构由三角形钢网格和玻璃盖板组成，将三个室内区域与医院综合大楼的主入口连接起来。屋顶在提供遮蔽的同时，还创造了一个生机勃勃的绿色室外区域，为医院用户的休闲和社交活动营造了温馨的氛围，其自由形式的设计与周围环境和谐地融为一体。

The structural concept is based on 14 support points located in front of the building. Considering the existing buildings and underground facilities, the final positions of these support points were carefully determined in a continuous process. The horizontal load is mainly borne by the support points of the so-called "sinking layer" and M-shaped supports.
结构概念以 14 个支撑点为基础，这些支撑点位于建筑物前方。考虑到现有建筑和地下设施，这些支撑点的最终位置是在一个连续的过程中仔细确定的。水平荷载主要由所谓“下沉层”的支撑点和 M 型支撑承担。

In addition, some V-shaped pillars also bear slight horizontal loads, while vertical pillars mainly transmit vertical loads to their base points. The mesh shell is composed of a triangular steel mesh with tubular profiles, connected to welded nodes through six steel plates and a solid conical tube, and the slender support is also a tubular profile.
此外，一些 V 形支柱还承受轻微的水平荷载，而垂直支柱则主要向其基点传递垂直荷载。网格外壳由带有管状型材的三角形钢网格组成，通过六块钢板和一根实心锥形管连接到焊接节点上，细长的支撑也是管状型材。

During the design phase, extensive optimizations were made to the geometry and structure, ultimately resulting in a sleek and aesthetically pleasing structure. The glass roof of Rua da Sa ú de not only plays an important role in the modernization of Santa Casa de Miseric ó rdia, but also has the potential to become a landmark building in the city of Porto Alegre.
