The word 'Bumi' means' earth ', and inspired by this, the design is guided by basic element materials - each material has an impact on architecture, spatial flow, and sensory experience. Water symbolizes flow and tranquility, inspiring the design of winding trails like streams and inviting people to stop by mirrored pools. Plants bring vitality and softness, forming a transition between indoor and outdoor boundaries, allowing green plants to eliminate the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Stone gives buildings a sense of stability and brings a lasting tactile connection with the earth. Bricks add warmth, craftsmanship, and texture, highlighting the warmth of human hands in architecture. Soil becomes a medium for growth, supporting rooftop gardens and terraces planted with greenery. The lawn is like a cool living carpet, softening the tough edges and framing the public outdoor space.

The existing building has a low terrain and is 35 meters away from the main road, so it is designed to be reconnected to the street through a 4-meter-wide bridge. This bridge is not just a pathway for traffic, but also a lush green avenue lined with tropical plants and gardens, creating an elevated, green arrival experience. The project extends towards the main road and sets up an outdoor seating area shaded by a rooftop garden, which not only enhances comfort but also reduces heat absorption.

The Bumi Pakubuwono project is far more than just a renovation, it is a re examination of the relationship between the built environment and nature. By integrating the language of earth elements into the architecture, this project creates a space that is both practical and healing - allowing people to root in their place, deepen their connection with nature, and enrich their daily life experiences.
