可持续与性能的完美结合:拉贡研究所在可持续设计方面表现出色,将性能策略融入到设计的各个层面。通过参数化建模优化的遮阳板,不仅提升了建筑的能源效率,还最大限度地降低了碳足迹,体现了建筑师对环境的责任。与低碳木材幕墙和三层玻璃窗的结合,进一步增强了建筑的节能性能。设计还注重水资源管理,采用实验室净化回收水和机械冷凝水用于灌溉等,并配备绿色屋顶和雨水管理系统,从而减少了对自然资源的依赖。这些措施不仅降低了建筑的运营成本,也为未来的建筑设计提供了宝贵的经验,是绿色建筑的典范。

The Ragon Institute is a unique scientific research alliance jointly built by Massachusetts General Hospital, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University, and always stands at the forefront of infectious disease research such as AIDS/AIDS and COVID-19. The newly-built research building with an area of 323000 square feet (GSF) is located on the main street at the intersection of Kendall Square and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus, occupying an independent triangular plot.

The building boldly adopts cantilever design at three corners, shaping this irregular triangular plot into a unique artistic masterpiece with extraordinary creativity. The main body of the building is lightly suspended on the continuous landscape belt around it, cleverly resolving the complex directional relationships at the entrance of the site with smooth volume curves, showcasing the beauty of harmony: its green roof winds down the street area, stretching for three floors, which is magnificent. The intricately carved elliptical courtyard space in the main building further outlines the unique architectural silhouette, adding a touch of dynamic silhouette along the main street; This design is also an elegant extension of the organic atrium, the core area of the research institute.

The Lagon Institute's minimalist color scheme and elegant curved design create a sharp contrast with the angular and diverse commercial buildings surrounding Kendall Square. Unlike the layout of surrounding buildings closely adjacent to the street, the Lagon Research Institute took the initiative to retreat and create a continuous linear park along the main street. Its minimalist exterior design is unique, soft and lightweight, covered with continuous vertically arranged fan-shaped aluminum sunshades, cleverly wrapping the high-performance exterior walls of the building; The opening of the sun visor gradually adjusts according to the needs of scientific research functions and changes in climate orientation, which is both practical and beautiful.
拉贡研究所以其简约的色彩搭配与优雅的曲线设计,与肯德尔广场周边棱角分明、风格各异的商业建筑形成鲜明对比。与周边建筑紧贴街道的布局不同,拉贡研究所主动退让,沿主街打造出一片连绵不断的线性公园。其极简主义的外立面设计独具特色,柔和轻盈,覆以连续垂直排列的扇形铝制遮阳板,巧妙包裹建筑的高性能外墙;遮阳板的开口随科研功能需求与气候朝向的变化而渐变调整,既实用又美观。

Green Island

A carefully planned network of public open spaces creates a landscape that can withstand climate change, covering building roofs and underground parking lots, revitalizing the concept of Cambridge's "urban forest".. Iconic landscape spaces include a linear park along the main street, a dome garden at the main entrance, a cantilevered terrace facing the Technology Square, a daycare garden facing the MIT campus, and a private courtyard garden suspended above the main street.
绿色之岛

精心规划的公共开放空间网络,构建出一片能够抵御气候变化的景观,覆盖建筑屋顶与地下停车场,让剑桥市“城市森林”的理念重焕生机。标志性景观空间包括:沿主街的线性公园、主入口处的穹顶花园、面向科技广场的悬挑露台、朝向麻省理工学院校园的日托花园,以及悬于主街上方一层的私密庭院花园。

First layer material

Below the suspended cantilever volume, the first layer material is inspired by warm landscape tones, using highly textured Vals quartzite wall panels, anodized copper loading and unloading doors, and garden walls.. The texture of the sun visor is arranged in a staggered manner, injecting dynamic rhythm and lively atmosphere into the overall design; Its matte texture evokes the eternal beauty of stone in the original buildings of MIT, Harvard University, and Massachusetts General Hospital (such as Killian Square, Harvard Hall, and Ether Dome).
首层材质

在悬浮的悬挑体量下方,首层材质灵感源自温暖的景观色调,采用高度纹理化的瓦尔斯石英岩墙面板、阳极氧化铜装卸门及花园围墙。遮阳板的纹理错落有致,为整体设计注入动态韵律与灵动气息;其哑光质感,则让人联想到麻省理工学院、哈佛大学及麻省总医院(如基利安广场、哈佛厅、乙醚穹顶)原有建筑中石材的永恒之美。

Performance Strategy

The Lagon Institute integrates performance considerations into every aspect of design.. The sun visor optimized through parameterized modeling ensures energy efficiency while minimizing carbon footprint; It complements the low-carbon wood curtain wall and three-layer glass windows. The functional zoning design guides air from the writing area to the laboratory, and the fully electrified HVAC system achieves a 61% reduction in energy consumption, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 716 households.

Laboratory purified recycled water and mechanical condensate water are used for irrigation, site water features, and cooling tower replenishment. Green roofs and rainwater management measures effectively respond to rainfall. The building is located on a flooded area to ensure the safety of the underground garage. Adequate natural lighting, openable windows, indoor and outdoor gardens, no harmful materials, and sufficient fresh air supply together create a space environment that is close to nature, healthy, and pleasant.
