The project is located in Yongning City, South Korea, and aims to transform a dilapidated residential building designed in postmodern architectural language, built in the late 1980s, into a new office space for the small paint company Dukwoo PCI. The original building features playful geometric shapes and circular windows, which evoke the silhouette of robots in Japanese anime. Despite its iconic appearance, the aging of building materials and outdated structure make it no longer suitable for use as a contemporary office space.

The design did not abandon its unique personality, but accepted and reinterpreted it - by adding steel frames to reinforce the building structure, removing old partitions, and introducing a clear space and color system. The final result is a thoughtful renovation that respects the formal memory of the building while aligning it with the client's corporate image and daily functional needs.
设计并未摒弃其独特个性，而是对其加以接纳并重新诠释 —— 通过新增钢框架加固建筑结构，拆除旧隔断，并引入清晰的空间与色彩体系。最终成果是一次深思熟虑的改造，既尊重了建筑的形式记忆，又使其与客户的企业形象及日常功能需求相契合。

As a paint company, Dukwoo PCI's brand is closely linked to color. In this project, the role of color goes far beyond surface treatment, becoming a core spatial design tool. Burgundy red is used to paint columns, green is used for beams, white is used for corrugated roofs, and gray is used for plaster finishes on exterior walls. Each color corresponds to a specific architectural element, thus creating a clear and unified visual system. More importantly, the customer directly participated in the painting process and integrated their own craftsmanship into the building. Therefore, color has become both a symbol of identity and a reflection of the creator's imprint.

The original building embodies the symbolic posture unique to postmodernism, while this renovation prioritizes structural clarity and material transparency. The new steel frame is kept exposed, and some bricks and concrete components are also preserved to showcase the structural logic of the building. The soft indirect lighting enhances the tactile characteristics of these materials, allowing light, shadow, and texture to jointly shape the space. This building invites people to interact with it - it is not a passive visual object, but a vibrant and breathing construct.
原建筑体现了后现代主义特有的象征性姿态，而此次翻新则优先强调结构清晰性与材料透明性。新的钢框架被保留外露，部分砖块与混凝土构件也得以保留，以展现建筑的结构构造逻辑。柔和的间接照明增强了这些材料的触感特质，让光影与质感共同塑造空间。这座建筑邀请人们与之互动 —— 它并非一个被动的视觉对象，而是一个充满生命力、可呼吸的构造体。

Time itself has become a crucial design element. Existing components - concrete beams, brick stairwell walls, steel spiral stairs - are preserved or selectively renovated. On the first floor, the green painted beams and lighting highlight the traces of time; Above, the exposed brick wall displays its weathered charm. The central circular window is fully glazed to enhance transparency, while the spiral staircase has been replaced with new steps and decorated in Burgundy red and green. To cover but not erase the rough concrete ceiling, semi transparent corrugated panels are used - allowing the traces of the past to be subtly revealed through filtered light and texture layers.
时间本身成为了关键的设计元素。既有构件——混凝土梁、砖砌楼梯井墙面、钢制螺旋楼梯 —— 被保留或选择性翻新。在一楼，绿色涂装的梁体与照明凸显了岁月的痕迹；上方，裸露的砖墙展现出其风化的韵味。中央的圆形窗户被完全安装上玻璃，以增强通透感，而螺旋楼梯则更换了新踏步，并涂以勃艮第红与绿色完成装饰。为遮盖却并不抹去粗糙的混凝土天花板，采用了半透明波纹板 —— 让过去的痕迹透过过滤后的光线与质感层次微妙地显现出来。

This project is not just a renovation, but a spatial narrative. Through minimalist yet precise intervention measures, a postmodern building is reborn - it is not only a workplace, but also a place where memories, material attributes, and brand identity blend together.
