Lombard Odier

From the architect. Lombard Odier's new "One Roof" headquarters is located on the shores of Lake Geneva, bringing together over 2000 employees previously scattered across six locations in Geneva, with a capacity that can be expanded to 2600 people. The design of the new building follows two core concepts - enjoying natural scenery and creating collaborative spaces, showcasing transparency, openness, and flexibility. The headquarters building is located in Bellevue, north of Geneva city center, and is part of the 2017 Champ du Ch â teau master plan, which includes large residential areas, parks, underground parking garages, and bicycle parking areas. The surrounding area is characterized by residential areas and abundant green spaces, adjacent to the botanical garden and the "International Zone" where international organizations gather. The area has convenient public transportation and is connected to an extensive bicycle network.

A diverse work environment not only protects privacy and focuses on individual work, but also promotes collaborative activities. Two double height collaborative spaces and employee common areas such as the restaurant face Lake Geneva, providing a panoramic view of the lake for everyone in the building, whether it's for meetings, work, or simply enjoying the scenery. These open spaces are interwoven with customer exclusive areas, including a customer salon spanning two floors overlooking the lake view.

The internal floor transitions into ramps or stairs, achieving smooth connections between each floor. This internal terrain is particularly evident in the auditorium and its surroundings, with curved stands extending outward to a sunken garden, becoming an outdoor theater. This space can accommodate over 500 guests, with independent seats in the front row and a gradual transition to an informal layout of benches and coffee tables in the back row. This design allows the rear area of the auditorium to serve as a flexible space for impromptu gatherings and small meetings when large events are not held.

The building features slender and curved cantilevered floor slabs, providing passive shading for glass curtain walls and convenient outdoor shading spaces for employees and customers. The curves do not completely overlap, the contours vary, and the direction and size of the terraces also differ depending on adjacent functions - the entire building seems to be breathing. The slender white columns support the terrace, blending seamlessly with vertical elements such as rainwater pipes and fabric sunshade rails. Suspended floor slabs reduce reflections on glass and enhance the transparency of the building along with the edges of stepped floor slabs. At the main entrance on the north side and the collaborative space facing the lake view, the floor slab is cut open to form a multi-level space, and the irregular design of the building aims to evoke people's associations with natural elements.

The design of 'One Roof' incorporates sustainability concepts in all aspects. In terms of environment, the main features include using local materials, constructing raft foundations with recycled concrete, collecting rainwater for flushing and greening, and installing over 700 square meters of solar panels on the roof. The deep cantilever design protects the windows from excessive direct sunlight and reduces cooling requirements, while the GeniLac system utilizes water from Lake Geneva for heating and cooling.

Social sustainability focuses on people's well-being. The abundant natural light and panoramic views from all directions on each floor create an ideal working environment, while various opportunities for communication and interaction enhance collaboration. Employees have multiple dining and coffee break options. The small bar at the entrance, the restaurant on the first floor, and the buffet restaurant with a spacious terrace on the sixth floor all offer lunch services, while the snack corner in the collaborative space provides convenient refreshments. The food is prepared by professionals from two kitchens, who can also enjoy the lake view - which is rare for spaces typically located in the back kitchen. The fitness center and adjacent lake encourage sports activities, combined with diverse dining options and gardens, enriching the social dimension of the new headquarters.
