The main structure of this project adopts exposed concrete load-bearing walls and orthogonal laminated timber (CLT) roof panels made of cypress wood. As the internal spatial units of the building change, this large curved roof that rotates 45 degrees will form various double slope roof changes together with the orthogonal system space, and interpret various appearances through light and shadow.

This project adopts new materials and construction methods such as orthogonal laminated timber (CLT) and laminated laminated timber (GLT), which extends the cantilever size and increases the curvature of the roof, thus creating a giant roof with a width of 16 meters and a length of 18 meters, breaking through the traditional wooden structure building form and creating a living space that combines architectural aesthetics and structural mechanics.

The design team raised the roof height to 5.8 meters and designed roof forms of different heights to increase the height and layering of the eaves, making the building not appear excessively low. After the roof was raised, the exquisite wooden structure was exposed, adding to the solemnity of the roof.

The design team rotated the hyperbolic roof (made of laminated laminated wood GLT) by 45 degrees, enhancing the building's recognition and creating multiple shaded spaces. People can see the diagonal gaps formed by the orthogonal patterns and planes of the large roof in every space, bringing different light and shadow effects to each space. This giant roof made of cypress wood gathers and tightly connects various spaces, like a big family living in a forest.

This 16 meter by 18 meter hyperbolic bowl shaped roof is made of 396 pieces of integrated wood with different curvatures, and over 3000 different iron connectors are used to connect the wooden structure. The periphery of the curved roof is supported on a column free orthogonal laminated timber (CLT) sloping roof. 46 pieces of 2-meter * 3-meter orthogonal laminated timber (CLT) sloping roofs form a combination of lines (composed of laminated laminated laminated timber GLT) and surfaces (composed of orthogonal laminated timber CLT) in the space, allowing the curved roof to extend the space.

This project imported Kashiwagi from Kagoshima, Japan. Using wooden structures instead of high carbon emitting materials can effectively reduce carbon footprint. If wood is used instead of steel structures, 696 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) emissions can be reduced. The lightweight structural design also greatly shortens construction time and reduces construction difficulty. After the completion of the project, the owner felt extremely relaxed and comfortable when they went home due to the aroma of essential oils emitted by the cypress wood, as if they had enjoyed a forest bath in the forest.
