The Populus hotel, designed by Studio Gang architectural design firm, has officially opened in downtown Denver, Colorado. Populus Hotel has become a landmark project that combines architectural innovation and organic design principles with its emphasis on ecological architecture and natural inspired appearance. This 265 room hotel, developed by Urban Villages and managed by Aparium Hotel Group, aims to reconnect guests with nature in the city center. The most iconic architectural feature of this hotel is its series of eye shaped windows, a design element that pays tribute to the dark spots on the bark of birch trees. The size and function of each window are different, and at the bottom of the building, you can enjoy the vast skyline of Denver, while the hotel rooms located above enjoy even more private space. These windows also serve practical purposes. Their outward extending parts provide shading for indoor environments, reducing solar radiation and optimizing energy efficiency. The clever use of materials and forms enabled Populus to perform well in Denver's diverse climate conditions, marking Studio Gang's first project in Colorado as a success in both visual and environmental aspects.

Inside the Populus hotel, Wildman Chalmers Design Studio and StudioFOWLER Architecture and Design Studio have jointly created an indoor environment that echoes the theme of nature. The hotel mainly uses natural materials such as recycled wood and eco-friendly textiles to create a feeling of wandering through the forest. The lobby features warm tones and wooden decorations that evoke the forest floor, while the hotel's guest rooms and upper levels aim to showcase the scenery of birch tree trunks and canopies. Whether it's the abundant natural light in the room or the simple and warm textures and decorations, they all reflect the design team's focus on bio friendly design and sustainability.
