Fish Island is a multifunctional integrated development project that combines residential, workspace, and higher education teaching and learning spaces. The project will be constructed in two phases: the "Fish Island West" launched in 2018 and the "Fish Island East" launched in 2021. The project site is located on Fish Island in Hackney Wick, which was originally the John Broadwood&Sons Piano Factory. It is situated in an old industrial area surrounded by infrastructure - the A12 two lane highway to the west, the Hertford Union Canal to the northwest, and the River Lea Navigation to the southeast, which separates Fish Island from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The western area of Fish Island is surrounded by two courtyards, with 37 apartments arranged in a stepped residential unit layout. The first courtyard is a private courtyard garden exclusively for residents, while the second courtyard is a public courtyard and serves as the core gathering area for commercial studios in the independent 5-story building on the east side. The studio in the building retains an industrial style interior, with work terraces on each floor that are directly connected to the indoor space. This public courtyard forms the first of two public passages that run through the entire development project. In addition, the project has created a west facing public space in front of the main residential entrance and the adjacent historic building Algha Works. Above the ground level, each standard floor is equipped with 7 apartments, with bedrooms distributed along the outskirts of the block to ensure that each household has access to street facing windows; The traffic flow between the public kitchen and the glass enclosure focuses social activities on the courtyard space they overlook.

Fish Island has a rich heritage of industrial architecture, with diverse styles of warehouse and factory buildings featuring sturdy and authentic structures. The western area of Yudao adopts a grand brick column pier and prefabricated concrete arch beam system. In these large structural openings, windows are arranged in groups of four, which greatly weakens the sense of repetition in the building and echoes the vibrant atmosphere of the surrounding creative community with bright colors. As for the eastern area of Fish Island, its more compact street view facade is composed of brick pillars forming the "longitude line" and contrasting colored brick walls between windows as the "latitude line", jointly outlining the rhythm of independent window frames. These design elements are in sharp contrast to the simple brick exterior walls in various areas of the site.

Simon Henley, founder of Henley Halebrown, stated that "Fish Island West has a 71 meter long street facing facade, with a layout of four windows embedded in large structural openings, significantly reducing the building's sense of repetition. The choice of brick and stone construction and color application also weaken the building's sense of volume." The project team hopes to further enhance the creative community atmosphere of Fish Island by providing multifunctional spaces for students and graduates, commercial studios, and the Stour Trust. The western part of Fish Island was completed under the name "Wick Park" in 2024, while the eastern part of Fish Island obtained planning permission in 2022 and is expected to be completed in 2027.
