Coldefy's award-winning design cleverly blends the site's history with a simple modern architectural form. Although not explicitly required in the design brief, the architects hope to ensure that each apartment not only has two shared green terraces overlooking the surrounding scenery, but also has private outdoor space. In addition, the design ensures that each apartment can enjoy the river view, allowing residents to appreciate the natural beauty of this area without leaving their homes.

The building facade adopts a concrete frame structure, which echoes the industrial history of the region. The framework is complemented by neutral tones and gray bricks, which not only complement the surrounding garden and river landscape, but also add a soft texture with the Moucharabieh (also known as "leaky window style") brick masonry technique. This brownfield, which used to serve as a supporting industrial zone for the textile industry, has been carefully planned and transformed to create a sustainable and pleasant environment, and to support Lille's broader economic vision through the development of EuraTechnologies, a leading hub in digital innovation. In the end, an ecological urban area was formed here, perfectly integrating residential areas, workplaces, public spaces, and leisure facilities, while strictly adhering to high standards of environmental protection requirements.

The design by Coldefy for Hannah Arendt House reflects a broader shift in urban management towards promoting urban renewal, abandoning the rigid and utilitarian architectural forms of the past and emphasizing a people-centered approach, with the aim of creating more personalized and community oriented social housing. The design of shared spaces and green areas aims to promote interaction among residents and create a sense of belonging that is often lacking in similar development projects. This plan sets an example for future development projects by cleverly integrating architectural, landscape, and community elements into a unified design. Isabel Van Haute, founding partner of Coldefy, said, "Our philosophy in designing these residences is that social housing can not only meet practical functions, but also inspire inspiration. While emphasizing practicality, we also emphasize improving the quality of life of residents. By carefully considering the scale, form, materials, and relationship between the building and the surrounding natural environment, we create a place that makes people feel familiar, personalized, and connected to the community. We hope that people living there can truly feel the warmth of home
