Ordinary Place
Our studio is a square box of around 100 square meters.. It is located in an ordinary office building in a very ordinary neighborhood, connected by ordinary corridors. The interior is well-organized and all corners are clear at a glance, except for a very small area where the ceiling pipe lowers the net height, making it the only "special scale" in the entire office.

Facing this ordinary and even a bit "boring" office, we feel that we must do something to make it more interesting. 'Setting the scenery in the plate' is one method. But setting up a scenery requires establishing rules first, which starts with spatial order: unified entry and exit, diversion and partition, and "two conversations and one tea".

Inside and outside the gate pavilion
"Unified entry and exit" refers to our door. Due to facing our neighbors across the corridor, we have placed a "gate pavilion" here to avoid sight. The reason why it is called a "pavilion" is because there is a cover above it, a boundary around it, and a turning point for entry and exit. In order to reduce the heavy ceremony of "going to work", we use a hidden frame glass sliding door hidden in the wall to close the boundary, and then use an unlocked semi transparent wooden door as the actual entrance to the field, which is opened on weekdays.

The consideration of "diversion" comes from two daily office needs: "Am I looking for colleagues or going outside. The two streamlines are divided by a set of movable low bookshelves, and with the change of flooring, we call it the "Ridge Island". When this set of bookshelves was moved to the surrounding area, the ridge disappeared, leaving only a small island, and the center was a spacious open space as large as possible for organizing small sharing events.

The "diversion" leads to the respective work areas of team members and leaders, with the "partition" being a corridor where various materials are placed. Materials are a very important part of design work, influencing and determining our thinking about a space. Therefore, we will face this corridor towards the "Gate Pavilion", perpendicular to the "Ridge", forming a cross axis to achieve the highest sense of ceremony. We call it the "Qianjin Corridor".

The upper part of the corridor is transparent, minimizing its impact on indoor lighting. The waistline has become the dividing line for the vertical facade of the entire studio: the lower part is composed of wooden solid walls made of ocean panels and perforated panels, providing the necessary visual obstruction for work and achieving stability and convenience. The upper part is composed of white walls, transparent sun panels, and lightweight wooden structures, forming a transparent but not fragmented facade, providing indoor visibility and preventing the originally small studio from appearing crowded and narrow due to spatial partitions.

Stealing Light by Digging into Walls
"Two Talks and One Tea" refers to meeting rooms, telephone booths, and tea bars, which are ancillary areas in daily office work. The two conversations are a thorough place for communication, so they are placed at that "special scale", with a lowered ceiling and movable wooden doors, allowing it to detach from the main space. Due to privacy requirements, the telephone booth is isolated as an independent space in this area, forming a box within a box. The telephone booth is the location with the least light in the entire office, but its outer side is the equipment platform. Therefore, we have opened a so-called air conditioning pipe hole here as a realistic version of cutting through walls to steal light. Therefore, this booth is named "Borrowing Light Pavilion".

As a public space, the office needs to seek a balance between personal privacy and communication. We hope to present the space in a form of arrangement through this bonsai style design, gaining recognition and freedom.
