Towards Far Bistro/Heng Building

From the architect. Go Far Yungui Bistro is located in the landmark building of Ping An Financial Center in Futian District, Shenzhen. The project was conceived with the starting point of "Returning to the Mountains and Wilderness in the City", responding to a core contradiction: how to evoke people's spiritual perception of the scenery and local customs of Yunnan and Guizhou in high-rise office buildings constructed with reinforced concrete?

The design inspiration comes from the movie "Roadside Picnic", which depicts the daily life and natural continuity of a small town in Guizhou through dreamlike storytelling and collage. We attempt to continue the spatial sense of "moist vitality" in the urban context - winding, damp, enclosed, and open.

The site itself is narrow and has a height of nearly 12 meters. We took advantage of this verticality to create a metal folding plate "roof" inspired by the roofs and terraces of Qiandongnan. Its suspended structure creates a strong visual memory and also possesses the necessary indicative qualities in urban environments.

Indoor, green wooden boards are used to simulate vine winding, running through the first and second floors, responding to the imagination of "wild vine growth in the shade of mountain streams". The narrow space is like a stone valley, with overlapping wooden boards echoing the metal facade, creating a continuous, moist, and naturally memorable spatial texture. On the second floor, a "stone room" private room is set up, with sliding railings as the boundary, resembling ancient people holding banquets in the mountains.

We try to incorporate materials and symbols from Qiandongnan as much as possible: indigo dyed fabric is transformed into wine banners and cushions, and customized screens are made of the same color wood veneer, echoing Yungui's rustic temperament. We refuse to simply replicate the labeling of "mountain ranges" and do not want to stop at surface cultural element transplantation. Instead, through the translation and reinterpretation of spatial language, we aim to evoke a spiritual image of urban mountains and wilderness.
