In Peru, 93% of urban expansion is spontaneous (Espinosa, 2022), a process that gradually progresses over a long period of implementation and waiting. In this context, construction costs are almost always too high and the pace of progress is too slow, especially when it comes to the inheritance and application of non-traditional construction knowledge - due to limited channels for acquiring technical knowledge, the cost of acquiring professional labor is also high.

Following this line of thought, the "Hu Yarulo Studio" project is based on the concept of independent construction guided by planning, assisted support, and gradual progress, aiming to address the various limitations in cultural construction, economic costs, and bureaucratic procedures that have emerged over time in the construction process. The project raises a key question: when should buildings add value to people's living, understanding, and expression? Was it completed while carrying all the visions, demands, and details? Was it when someone moved in during the construction process? Or is it when it is re planned, adjusted, adapted, and transformed based on specific conditions?

This project has gradually been conceptualized and implemented over the past three years, with construction and living taking place simultaneously. During this period, it has experienced a long period of downtime and accumulated experience. During the construction process, it has become a workshop for carpenters and architects, while constantly being expanded and transformed into temporary residences, ultimately forming a space that integrates living and working; And to this day, its construction work is still ongoing, and this project showcases its characteristics more through the process rather than the outcome.

On a plot of land with a width of 4 meters and a depth of 21 meters, it is proposed to use Ormosia Coccinea to construct a structure with a net height of 4 meters and a continuous and uniform cross-section. The unique 2-inch (approximately 5.08 cm) thickness of this wood allows for flexible construction, repeated adjustments, and accumulated practical experience during the construction process of the building.

This is a building with a stable structure and a variable internal space, and its freely planned layout allows it to be continuously renovated and adapted over time. The system consisting of a courtyard and a "small terrace (teatinas, which can be understood as a small courtyard or characteristic terrace space)" promotes the ventilation of the entire space and achieves good lighting effects.

The technical construction achievement of repairing and building this wooden structure space was achieved by the two of them with all their efforts and limited tools. The detailed processing, connection methods, mechanical nodes, and construction system used are all products of this decision.

This final completed architectural work aims to convey concepts of sustainability, freedom, flexibility, and resilience by integrating the "non-traditional" construction space culture into its urban environment, and thus become part of the renewal and regeneration process of the Pueblo Libre historical memorial area.
