AITASHOP Cycling Space/Yedou Design

Exploration of Cycling Culture and Community Spirit
Since its establishment, AITASHOP has been deeply involved in the high-end bicycle industry, committed to providing excellent products and diversified services related to cycling.. Adhering to this philosophy, Yatofu views architectural renovation and spatial design as a reconstruction of cycling and community relationships. The project is located in the core area of a historic industrial park, immersed in a unique and melodious industrial atmosphere. The team has divided the first floor of the building space into two themed areas, namely "The Garage" and "The Experience Hub", with scattered special exhibition, maintenance, office, and cleaning functional areas distributed among them.

The 751 Industrial Park, founded in 1954, was formerly known as the state-owned 751 Chemical Plant and was one of the 156 large-scale industrial projects that were a key focus of construction during the country's "First Five Year Plan" period. After experiencing industrial manufacturing and depression, the entire park is filled with traces of historical industry, while the building itself is like a "still life witness" of changes in things, revealing the decay and sense of age of the site from daily use to years of disrepair. Therefore, how to combine the industrial atmosphere radiated by the venue with the precision of industrial production and the revitalization of the former community attributes contained in bicycle culture, while also aligning with the community spirit advocated by cycling, has become the challenge and highlight of this renovation.
The interior of the building where the store is located is enclosed by 10 desulfurization tanks, and the unique structure inside creates a striking industrial and natural contrast with the green plants and vines scattered throughout the building facade. Through the baptism of time, plants continue to grow, bringing vitality and a new space of transformation to the new community.

Belonging to the gathering center of the community
Yatofu hopes to turn AITASHOP into an activity center of the community, not only selling various selected cycling clothing, bicycles, and parts, but also providing measurement, maintenance, and coffee leisure, providing the most integrated and high-quality experience for customers who love cycling culture, and also providing a "base" for people in the 751 community to relax and enjoy leisure time.. The designer opened the facade of the sunken space at the entrance on the west side, creating a triangular space that is half indoor and half outdoor, naturally forming a space similar to a "Garage". Cycling enthusiasts can freely push their carts into the interior and explore according to their own needs. Friends or customers in the community can also freely drink coffee and chat in the coffee area set up here, enjoying a comfortable moment. At the same time, the technical maintenance room, which is usually placed in the corner, has become the protagonist of the space, opening up possibilities for communication between customers and engineers and bringing communication closer The "garage" area is detached from its original spatial attributes and more like a public leisure space belonging to the community. It is connected indoors and outdoors, reflecting a sense of community and group, providing every visitor with a more suitable and comfortable store exploration experience.

The juxtaposition of old and new creates a 'future village'
Exploring inward leads to an experiential retail area with desulfurization tanks as its characteristic layout.
. Yatofu carefully peels and transforms the original building to preserve its industrial traces to the greatest extent possible, and contrasts the texture of new and old materials to reflect the industrial historical changes of the entire building, revealing the "spatial memory". The newly installed building materials in the space are all basic industrial materials, reminiscent of the materials used in bicycle manufacturing techniques, such as stainless steel plates, punched metal mesh plates, and galvanized grille mesh. The placement of these new blocks creates several installation structures between the mottled original building structures, allowing visitors to constantly shuttle between the old and the new, experience the beauty of cycling culture, and feel the collision of past industrial traces and current precision industrial aesthetics. At the same time, the classic seats from Finnish furniture brand Artek and the custom designed bar chairs from Yatofu are embellished, adding a touch of nature and warmth to the space.

As a totem like presence in the industrial park, the huge desulfurization tank has been preserved by the designer with its original mottled texture, and through the reconstruction of architectural layers and internal functions, it has become one of the most unique experiences in the space. Visitors can feel the native feeling of the venue as they walk through it, and the bicycles and their precision accessories displayed in the space further deepen their sensory experience through the contrast between roughness and refinement. The newly installed devices in the space define different exhibition and retail areas, exploring a futuristic avant-garde feel in the industrial site, while combining exhibition changes to make the entire retail area a novel and interesting "Experiential Hub experience center".
