This is the first project commissioned by Blue Bottle Coffee to design a brand new caf é building, located in Toyosu Park, Tokyo, facing Tokyo Bay. Fengzhou Park is a coastal urban park that is widely loved by local residents for its leisurely environment and panoramic view of the city's high-rise buildings. It is an ideal place for relaxation and relaxation.

The project requires a caf é of approximately 300 square meters, but we believe that a large building may significantly separate indoor and outdoor spaces in the park, disrupting the overall atmosphere of the park. Therefore, we have chosen a more open, friendly, and intimate space design that blurs the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, making the entire park seem like a part of a caf é.

The architectural design first embeds a group of humanized small house clusters into the open park. We have fully considered the various existing parking spaces in the park, such as benches, lawns, and steps, and have used them as seating areas. We have also designed spacious eaves and semi outdoor spaces as intermediary spaces connecting these areas with the caf é. The architectural form presents a gradual transition from outdoor, semi outdoor to indoor activities, and users can enter the building from various directions, creating a smooth transition space experience that blends seamlessly with the nature of the park.

In order to further blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors, the building floor is laid with extended brick materials, so that there are no longer obvious boundaries in the spatial layout. The upper part of the facade is made of FRP (glass fiber reinforced plastic) material, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor areas, while bringing soft diffused light to the entire space, creating a comfortable lighting environment. A large amount of glass is used in the area with high visual height to ensure unobstructed access to the sea view inside the building. FRP is also used in the design of buildings and outdoor furniture: cantilevered outdoor tables are directly connected to columns, forming an organic continuity between the building and furniture, further enhancing the coherence of the overall space.

The caf é space offers diverse seating arrangements to meet different usage needs. The spacious semi outdoor space is designed like an area under the shade of trees, equipped with a large number of sofas and leisure chairs, providing a comfortable open resting space. The interior design fully utilizes the ceiling height differences generated by the combination of independent volumes. In the higher "Caf é 2" area, high tables and shared tables are set up to create an atmosphere that encourages communication and interaction; In the relatively compact and low "Caf é 1" area, leisure chairs are arranged for people to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the park and sea view.
