Xiannadu Chongzhong Mountain

The project is located in Banan, only 60 kilometers away from the city center of Chongqing. The mountains here are continuous and the forests are dense. The distance between the city and nature is not as far as imagined, and even closely related.

The site is located on a steep hill with a steep slope, and there is only one gentle path at the top of the mountain. Walking along, one is constantly surrounded by towering and slender cedar trees, which makes one lose their sense of direction.

The main building facade is a spherical concave surface that echoes the circular front square, making the building the stage background of the square and forming a three-dimensional activity area. The slightly raised walls at the four corners, along with the deep curved openings, create a sense of lightness and heaviness, symbolizing the gravitational field of celestial bodies in the universe.

The main building is an interconnected cavity, allowing people to enter the high internal dining space through dark caves, immerse themselves in the forest, and then turn the external hanging ladder to reach the rooftop space overlooking the mountains. People can also first climb up to the highest point by rotating through the tower, and then enter the rooftop space through the flying bridge. These are two intertwined paths that allow people to shuttle between the interior of the building and the forest, where they can see and meet each other, forming a three-dimensional and multi-level tourist experience.

The four buildings arranged along the contour line of the mountaintop, as well as the six treehouses hidden in the pine forest, resemble a matrix left by ancient times, forming a mysterious spatial relationship around the central square and creating a surreal atmosphere. The architecture, with its primitive geometric form and window openings, large blank walls, and swaying tree shadows, has become a part of the environment.

The treehouse and reception pavilion are located between the valleys, hidden on the other side of the mountaintop. The reception pavilion retreats behind the cedar forest, like a white pavilion in the midst of a white foal passing through the woods, with a geometric shaped roof floating in the woods. Entering from the stepped corner of the slanted patch wall, the view was completely opened up, and the treehouse was faintly visible in the jungle. The sky pours down from the top of the sloping roof, creating a quiet and ethereal pavilion space.

Architecture is not just about simple construction. Through the organization of spatial form and order, controlling the tension and relaxation of emotions, it transcends the material itself and creates poetry. We never ignore nature, allowing light and air to pass through buildings. We face the desolation of primitive nature, break through boundaries with imagination, and sing praises to the wild beauty of life and nature.
