入口的策略与空间的对话： 建筑师巧妙地利用体量对比，打破了狭窄街巷的视觉局限，强化了入口的辨识度，这体现了对实际运营需求的精准把握。更重要的是，设计师在入口处设置的“反差感强烈的体量”不单是功能性的外壳，更是与内部院落空间对话的媒介。它强化了空间的层次感，引导视线，预示着内部空间的丰富性。这种设计手法不仅解决了商业展示问题，更以一种引人入胜的方式邀请人们进入，激发了人们对内部空间的探索欲望。入口设计是整个项目的点睛之笔，为后续的改造奠定了基调。

新旧材料的对话与历史文脉的延续： 该项目最令人印象深刻的特质在于其对历史的尊重和对新旧材料的巧妙运用。设计团队没有简单地进行“翻新”，而是通过“拼凑匠”的方式，最大程度地保留了原有建筑的砖石结构和木构屋顶，展现了早期殖民风格的独特魅力。新旧材料的对比，比如新旧砖的巧妙搭配，以及墨绿色铝板窗套的运用，都在默默地诉说着历史的变迁，并赋予建筑以现代感。二层露台的设计，保留了原屋顶的木构形式，更是在新与旧之间架起了一座桥梁，创造出与院落互动的功能，实现了历史文脉的完美延续。

内部空间的叙事性与功能性： 内部空间的设计从朴素的日常角度出发，既满足了目标客户群的需求，又最大限度地保留了原建筑的材料和工艺，体现了设计者对空间使用者的深刻理解。裸露的墙体结构和屋顶，记录着建筑的历史痕迹，营造出一种独特的氛围感。而保留原有楼梯的设计更是妙笔生花，将其打造成为视觉焦点，并在楼梯的攀爬过程中，通过开窗设计，巧妙地将外部的历史建筑和现代城市景观引入室内，丰富了空间的叙事性。这种设计手法使空间既有历史的厚重感，又兼具现代生活的舒适性，创造出一种引人入胜的体验。

Jiuguo Huaiting is a youth hotel located in the Tianjin Urban Concession Scenic Area, and it is also the first practice of Heng Architecture to consider operational aspects in its design. The original building was mainly constructed with bricks and stones, with a wooden roof, showcasing the combination of early colonial style and local building materials. Due to the fact that the building is located on the inner side of the street and lacks a prominent commercial display area, how to highlight the characteristics of the entrance and courtyard has become the focus of the design. The design team adopts a "patchwork craftsman" approach to design intervention, maximizing the preservation of the original building's condition, respecting history, and minimizing unnecessary changes.
九国怀庭是位于天津城市租界景区的一家青年酒店，也是衡建筑首次在设计中兼顾运营角度的实践。原建筑以砖石砌筑为主，配以木构屋顶，展现了早期殖民风格与当地建筑材料的结合。由于建筑位于街巷内侧，缺乏显著的商业展示面，如何突显入口和院落特色成为设计的重点。设计团队采用“拼凑匠”的方式进行设计干预，最大程度保持原建筑的现状，尊重历史并尽量减少不必要的改动。

The project entrance breaks through the limitations of narrow streets and alleys through a contrasting volume design, helping tourists find the building entrance more easily. This block not only wraps the necessary mechanical and electrical equipment, but also enhances the sense of spatial hierarchy through its connection with the courtyard.
项目入口通过一个反差感强烈的体量设计来打破狭窄街巷的局限，帮助游客更容易找到建筑入口。该体块不仅包裹了必要的机电设备，还通过与院落的衔接，增强了空间的层次感。

In terms of design, the design team focuses on showcasing historical clues in old buildings, using comparisons between new and old bricks and materials to continue expressing respect for history. At the same time, a window frame system beyond the usage boundary has been added, forming a new spatial expression. The dark green aluminum window frames float in the courtyard, emphasizing the boundary between interior and exterior space, while giving the building a modern feel. The second floor terrace retains the wooden form of the original roof and creates a space under the roof that can interact with the yard.
在设计上，设计团队注重展现旧建筑中的历史线索，用新旧砖的对比和材料延续表达对历史的尊重。同时，添加了一个超出使用边界的窗套体系，形成一种新的空间表达。墨绿色的铝板窗套漂浮在院落中，强调内外空间的界限，同时为建筑赋予了现代感。二层露台保留了原有屋顶的木构形式，并在屋顶下创造了一个可与院子互动的空间。

The interior space design is designed from a simple daily perspective, meeting the needs of the target audience while maximizing the preservation of the original building's materials and craftsmanship. The exposed design of the wall structure and roof reflects the historical traces of the building. The public area retains the original staircase, while other walls are reorganized to form a new state, highlighting the staircase as a visual node. During the climb of the stairs, the window design introduces the perspectives of historical buildings and modern urban landscapes into the interior.
内部空间设计从朴素日常的角度出发，既满足目标客群的需求，又最大限度保留原建筑的材料和工艺。墙体结构和屋顶的裸露设计体现了建筑的历史痕迹。公区保留了原有楼梯，其他墙面则通过重新组合形成新状态，凸显楼梯这一视觉节点。在楼梯的爬升过程中，开窗设计将历史建筑与现代城市景观的视角引入室内。

The first and second floor guest rooms use exposed cement boards as decorative materials and retain the original roof structure. The third floor wraps or decorates the original chaotic structure, emphasizing nodes in functional layout. The reorganization of the platform bed and public areas enhances the fluidity of the space. Furniture design also emphasizes functionality and simplicity, using panel furniture to echo the overall simple atmosphere.
一二层客房采用裸露水泥板材作为饰面材料，并保留原屋顶结构的状态。三层则将原有杂乱的结构包裹或装饰化，功能布局强调结点，地台床和公共区域的重组增强了空间的流动性。家具设计也注重功能性与简洁性，使用板材化的家具呼应整体的朴素氛围。
