Ü berseestadt, as one of the largest urban development projects in Europe, is gradually taking shape in the western part of Bremen. This emerging urban area covers an area of about 300 hectares and is located in the former Ü berseehafen area. Among them, the "Overseas Island" (Ü berseeinsel) peninsula occupies part of the land, which was once the production base of food manufacturer Kellogg's.

This comprehensive renovation plan aims to create a vibrant multifunctional complex in the area by the Weser River adjacent to the center of Bremen. The complex is built adjacent to the water, and its unofficial landmark and striking highlight is undoubtedly the Kellogg's silos built in the 1970s, which gave the area a unique identity and have now been transformed into a hotel by the architectural firm DMAA.

Symbolic Silo- Kellogg's silo, which was previously used to store up to 5000 tons of corn, wheat, or oats, has attracted attention in the field of architecture for its renovation project, but also faces complex aesthetic challenges..
The project philosophy of DMAA reflects the client's clear demand to preserve the industrial characteristics and symbolic power of the silo. As a result, the newly added nine story building was not reflected on the exterior facade of the silo.

The iconic red "Kellogg's" logo stands tall on a unique 40 meter high silo, which now houses 117 circular and semi-circular hotel rooms. The lower annex building, which was once used as a vitamin warehouse, has been transformed into a five story office space with conference rooms, and its roof is now a panoramic activity area.
