设计理念与空间叙事： M住宅项目最引人入胜之处在于其深刻的设计理念和对空间叙事的巧妙运用。建筑师并非仅仅关注形式和功能，而是深入挖掘了居住者对“家”的情感记忆，将童年时代对自然环境的感知，对光影、植物和材料的独特体验融入设计。通过在狭窄场地内构建多层次的庭院，巧妙地引入自然光线和景观，创造出一种流动且富有层次感的空间体验。这种设计不仅仅是对居住者生活方式的满足，更是对情感和记忆的尊重与延续，赋予了建筑独特的生命力。这种空间叙事手法，使得建筑超越了单纯的居住功能，成为承载情感和记忆的容器。

光影与材料的巧妙运用： 建筑师对光影和材料的运用达到了炉火纯青的境界。通过巧妙的开窗设计和庭院布局，建筑内部的光线变化丰富而微妙，营造出一种令人沉浸的氛围。材料的选择也极具匠心，定制的染色混凝土、钛锌板屋面、水磨石地面等，在质感和视觉上都与整体设计理念相呼应。这些材料的组合，不仅赋予了建筑独特的视觉语言，更提供了丰富的触觉体验。光线的流动、材料的质感，共同构筑了内外统一的感官体验，使得建筑成为一个可以被触摸、被感知的“现象”，而非仅仅是视觉的呈现。这种对细节的极致追求，是项目成功的关键。

空间布局与生活方式的融合： M住宅在空间布局上实现了对多代同堂生活方式的完美回应。通过多个庭院的穿插和连接，建筑师创造了一个开放而互动的空间，既保证了每个家庭成员的私密性，又促进了家庭成员之间的交流。这种设计理念打破了传统住宅的封闭性，使得居住者能够在自然光线和景观的环抱下，享受更健康、更舒适的生活。空间的设计并非孤立存在，而是与居住者的生活方式紧密相连。建筑师通过对空间尺度、光线、景观的精心设计，营造了一种充满活力和温馨的家庭氛围，使建筑真正成为了“家”的象征，体现了对居住者内心世界的深刻理解和尊重。

From the architect. M Residence is a multi story residential building located in the eastern part of Beijing. The entire building is surrounded by tree shade, and the courtyard is lush with vegetation, creating a unique atmosphere and texture. The homeowner has repeatedly described his childhood memories of his home and residence: a low rise building with lush greenery surrounded by tree branches when he opens the window, sunlight and tall bookshelves, a dark terrazzo floor, and swaying tree shadows projected onto the red brick walls; This image memory that has been passed down for several generations has long been deposited into a certain family personality, and has also laid a certain emotional and nostalgic, new and old intertwined temperament for this architectural space.
来自建筑师。M 住宅是位于北京东部的一栋多层住宅，整栋建筑被树荫包裹，院中草木茂盛，环境自带着某种特别的氛围和质感。住宅主人曾多次描绘记忆深处童年时期对于家宅和居住的印象：低层的楼房，推开窗就是树梢围合的绿意，阳光和高大的书架，深色的水磨石的地面，投射在红砖墙面上摇曳的树影；这种延续几代人的图像记忆，早就沉积成了某种家庭性格，也为这个建筑空间奠定了某种情感与回忆、新与旧交织的气质。

The boundary of the original site is enclosed by high walls, with the central courtyard surrounded by high walls. The buildings surrounding it on all sides use the atrium as the only source of lighting. The houses are narrow and elongated, with limited window openings, and most of the indoor area that needs to be used is trapped in shadow.
原有场地的房屋边界由高墙围合，中心庭院被高墙围在其中，四面围绕的建筑以中庭作为唯一采光来源，房屋近身狭长，开窗洞口有限，室内大部分需要被使用的面积均被困在阴影之下。

The overall strategy is to establish a new spatial system hidden beneath high walls. Under vertical constraints, extend the horizontal hierarchy and open 5 courtyards of different scales; The courtyard is spacious and easy to explore, and no matter where you are, different spatial units will have a face-to-face relationship. This also reflects the daily scenes of multiple generations living together. People shuttle between these ambiguous rooms, and interactions between grandparents, grandchildren, or nuclear families are all responded to. Spaces are interconnected in various ways, and there are always intentional gaps for peeping between regions. People's gaze is constantly capturing new information, without the need for physical movement, and their gaze is wandering.
整体策略是建立一个沉潜在高墙下的新空间体系。在竖直方向受到限制的情况下，延展水平方向的层次，开启 5 个尺度不一的庭院；大小庭院可观可游，无论置身何处，不同空间单元之间会产生对望关系。这也观照到多代人共同生活的日常场景。人们在这些若即若离的房间中穿梭，祖孙满堂或者核心家庭的互动，都得到响应。空间以各种方式互相连通，区域之间总是故意留出窥视的空隙，人的视线一直在捕捉新的信息，不用身体运动，视线就在漫游中。

By changing the space and opening windows to guide light, create a continuous change that captures natural light throughout the day in the place. The front yard, side yard, platform, rooftop, and courtyard are connected with corresponding living functions at each level, bringing a richer light and shadow experience. Although the surrounding high walls still exist, the spatial penetration between multiple courtyards magnifies the physical scale of visual perception, and darkness becomes a variable grayscale. Under the shade of plants interspersed in the courtyard, the garden, rooms, and even the rooftop transition space are divided into different levels, making the overall space of the building open and flowing, thus providing the possibility of a circular experience for the site.
通过变换空间、开窗方向引导光线，营造出可以捕捉场所中自然光全天的连续变化。前院、侧院、平台、天台、天井，每个层级都串联了相应的生活功能，由此带来更丰富的光影体验。虽然周围的高墙依然存在，多重院落之间的空间穿透放大了视觉感知的物理尺度，黑暗变成了可以变换的灰度。在穿插于庭院间的植物掩映下，花园、房间，乃至顶层天台，过渡空间被划分为不同层次，建筑整体空间变得开放和流动，场地因此有了循环体验的可能。

Space is information, architecture is phenomenon, and the tension of materials provides the ultimate experience of body and touch. By categorizing and aggregating the material changes that have occurred over the years in the original building, a customized material for this residence has been created; A type of dyed concrete with large particle seed stones, which is made into trapezoidal concave convex shapes in the vertical direction and prefabricated into a 900x2200 block concrete dry hanging board; The roof is made of original color titanium zinc sheet metal roof, connected to the terrace with small grain terrazzo and poured as a whole on the ground; Use mixed stone concrete to pour a central island, table, and flower table that can be sat around as a whole. These constructions and materials interweave to create a physical experience that runs through the interior and exterior of the building.
空间是信息，建筑是现象，材料的张力提供了身体和触觉的最终体验。把原有建筑经年累月的材料变化分类与聚合，创造出了这个住宅的定制材料；一种具有大颗粒籽石的染色混凝土，以垂直方向制造梯形凹凸，预制成 900x2200 的整块混凝土干挂板；屋顶部分使用原色钛锌板金属屋面，连接露台小粒水磨石整体浇的地面；使用杂石混凝土整体浇筑成可以围坐的中岛，桌子和花台。这些构筑和材料交织构成了贯穿建筑内外的物理体验。

Looking back at these inward spaces, wrapped in materials and light, the atmosphere becomes quiet and solid. Wandering from the entrance to the rooftop seems like a spiritual journey of 'freedom on high ground'. Experiencing space is like observing a person, initially focusing only on their appearance, gradually understanding their personality, gradually grasping their lifestyle habits, trying to get closer to their inner world, until understanding their spirit and soul. Perception is the ruler given to us by nature, to measure authenticity, to experience fun, and to give meaning to everything. Perception enables us to understand and respond appropriately to materials, construction, and space. To some extent, this complex process may be the entire meaning of building a home - looking back at the emotions and memories of each individual.
回望这些内向的空间，在材料和光线的包裹下，气氛堆叠变得静谧而坚实。从入口穿梭游弋至屋顶天台，仿佛也是一场“自由在高处”的精神之旅。体验空间就好像观察一个人，起初只是注意其容貌，逐渐了解其为人，慢慢摸清其生活习惯，试着靠近内心世界，直至理解其精神与灵魂。感知是自然赋予我们的标尺，去衡量真实性，去体验趣味，为一切赋予意义。感知让我们理解并对材料、建造和空间做出恰当的回应。在某种程度上，这个复杂的过程可能就是建造住宅的全部意义——回望每个个体的情感与记忆。
