La Roca Student Apartments/A6A

This newly built student apartment highlights the vitality and diverse integration of functions in this emerging urban area. The unique proportion planning of the project land allows the design team to break through the traditional layout pattern of rooms without natural lighting arranged on both sides of the corridor. This project revolves around an open-air courtyard and constructs a three-dimensional traffic flow around it. These circulation spaces extend to the open gaps between each building, outlining the outline of the new urban landscape and promoting natural ventilation circulation in the overall area. Therefore, the residential units of student apartments have achieved two-way transparency - facing the street and leading to a courtyard surrounded by green plants and swaying trees, truly becoming a "cool oasis" exclusive to the student community.

The architectural style is simple, reflected through its raw materials. In order to save money and highlight the texture of building materials, the design team limited the quantity of decorative materials. This choice prompts peers to take care of every intervention they take: the concrete floor remains in its original state, the walls are coated with lime through simple projections, the electrical network is exposed, and there are no false ceilings. Public areas rarely require heating or cooling as they are located in outdoor environments, greatly reducing building energy consumption and facilitating maintenance. The characteristic of the facade is the doubling of a single window. The design team emphasized their depth to create a shaded area that protects the room from direct sunlight and makes the slender building volume more abstract.

The roughness of the upper floor coating contrasts sharply with the smooth and wide glazed surface of the lower layer. Here, the reception desk and workspace are very open to the street. They are connected to each other through a deep porch leading to the terrace. Natural light is soft, encouraging the use of stairs and wide stair platforms. They become places for neighbors to gather and share, supporting various creative uses.
